Answers to your questions & concerns
"Do I have to be undressed to receive a massage?"
No, you can remain fully clothed. True swedish massage requires one to be undressed to underwear at the least. Many clients request detailed restorative bodywork or just want to experience the healing effects of integrative massage & bodywork which does not require being undressed.
(exercise clothing, sports gear, or fitted yet comfortable clothing are best when you come in)
"Can you address injuries and help restore range of movement?"
Absolutely, using myofascial release techniques, NMT, joint mobilizations, active release techniques and more we can help restore proper range of motion and bring you back to a more optimal level of health. These techniques can sometimes be unpleasant however highly effective. No techniques require one to be undressed!
"Will you apply deep enough pressure?"
Yes, we adjust pressure accordingly and communicate with you.
"Will you apply soft enough pressure for me to relax?"
Yes, we adjust pressure accordingly and communicate with you.
"Do you provide individualized exercises and stretches?"
Yes, we find what works for you and typically send you home with 2-3 stretches or exercises to help deal with areas you typically find to cause you pain.
"Do you do prenatal massage & bodywork?"
Yes, we do. And if you seek a female practitioner who has prenatal massage & bodywork training we can refer you to an excellent practitioner in Meridian & Boise.
"Do you know other therapists in the event I want a female practitioner?"
Yes, the network that we are developing is growing on a weekly basis. Having done many trades with other massage therapists, acupuncturists, naturopaths, chiropractors, hypnotherapists and other health professionals. We can provide you with very skilled professionals ranging in experience and in sex in the event you prefer a female practitioner or if you are looking for a specialist in a specific thing.
We do not view other massage therapists as competition, we are here to provide you with Excellence in care and if that means referring you to another therapist we will gladly do so & call the other therapist for you!
"Are you skilled in working with people who've had car accidents or major surgeries?"
Yes, we are. Having in-depth study on anatomy and physiology as well as our education being very medically orientated, many car accidents clients and seriously injured or otherwise post-operation clients. Having worked with clients of all walks of life, age, interests, concerns, health conditions, etc. If we do not feel we can help you we will refer you to someone who can! We are not interested in providing mediocre care. Only Excellence!
"How will I feel after a session of massage & bodywork?"
That entirely depends on too many variables to say you will feel a certain way all the time. Typically most people feel a dreamy/sleepy relaxed state at the end of the session. If you are looking to relax we can do that and your stress will melt away. If you have key areas you want addressed but want to be relaxed as well, the middle of the session can be orientated towards restorative bodywork and beginning and end geared towards pure relaxation.
It's really limitless, because we practice integrative massage & bodywork we can adjust it in so many ways we could never list all of the possibilities and sequences. Some massage & bodywork leaves you feeling sore for a few days. Other massage & bodywork will leave you almost sedated. Is one better than the other? No, not at all. We are here to provide you with an endless variety of options.
"What's the point of deep tissue bodywork that leaves you feeling sore for 2-3 days afterwards?"
It's based in the same principle as hard workouts, you tear muscle tissue to rebuild stronger and leaner muscle. Well, we do deep tissue bodywork to create micro-tears in the muscle tissue so that it can repair it self, hence why feeling like a truck ran over the areas worked on with deep tissue techniques. Only select individuals will ask for true deep tissue, and we can happily provide this. Especially many athletes, they often prefer this style of bodywork.
"Do you accept insurance?"
Yes, our receptionists, Shelly and Joanie can handle billing insurance agencies. Just call your provider to see if they cover myofascial bodywork, therapeutic massage, neuromuscular re-education, or active release techniques.
"I've never had a massage & bodywork session, what should I expect?"
We introduce people new to massage gently so as to develop a very positive experience so that the next time you come you learn more and more about your body and you feel better and better. We explain every technique, what it typically feels like, and why we are doing a specific technique with you.
"How long should the results of massage & bodywork last?"
Some results last longer than others. Some people require many sessions within a month in order to address a serious injury or limiting range of movement. However if addressed within a range of time you will be given exercises and stretches that keep our work with you maintained so you don't need us.
We find many people benefit from one or two sessions a month, and for those who come in every week they experience a higher level of benefits. However, in our interests to have you need us less and less. We emphasize education on everything from body mechanics, nutrition, specific rehabilitative and precise exercises & stretches, expanding your perspective on health politics, other health practitioners in the area that may provide you with more detailed help, the latest news and research in regards to all of the above.
We want those who just want to feel good enough after seeing us a few times to want to see us rather than need to see us. For those who simply love massage & bodywork we are here to provide you with care that is remarkable and care that becomes better each time you come in!
